dog days of summer

Dog Days of Summer are described as hot sultry summer weather but why are they called Dog Days? It is popularly believed to be an “evil time” when the sea boiled, wine turned sour, dogs grew mad and all creatures became languid causing man burning fevers and hysterics. The Dog Days of Summer are truly here. Car Obsessed Atlanta is having a CODE RED Smog day, 84% humidity on a cloudy day.
Dog Dogs of Summer actually originate from Sirius the Dog Star the brightest star in the galaxy which rose just before or at about the same time as the sunrise and set with the sun. This usually last anywhere from 30-54 days between early July and early September. Searching the sky this morning i could not identify the Dog Star, but the lights of the early morning departures from Hartsfield Jackson filled the morning sky. Lets hope with the early appearance of theses Dog Days that it signals and early fall.

I can’t take the heat and humidity. I feel like I’m being smothered.
