Abomination ….Do You Know What It Means?

I’ve been thinking about it for the last couple of days. Someone close used it in a sentence of ill will and it just didn’t make any sense to me.

Now if you thought great big sin, something that makes God really mad, actions that send you to hell, or anything else in that ballpark, I’m (not) sorry to tell you that…. you’re wrong.

Back in the old, old days when the Old Testament was written, “abomination” didn’t mean “something that is wrong for everyone.” Nope. Instead, the folks who wrote the law we find in the Old Testament book of Leviticus knew that an abomination was “something a very specific group of people has chosen not to do.”

It wasn’t “an action that is wrong.” It was “an action that is wrong… for us.”

I bit tongue with a response(or rather stopped my fingers from texting) but after thinking about it my response would be ….. The ugliest thing that I have ever seen is a human being without compassion.

  2. Kathleen says:

“Your job is not to judge. Your job is not to figure out if someone deserves something. Your job is to lift the fallen, to restore the broken, and to heal the hurting.”
